Ask your child about what he or she got out of the program today!&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li><li>ILEARN and NWEA reports can be found in PowerSchool. Please log in to your parent Powerschool account and go to \u201cStudent Progress Center\u201d&nbsp;<\/li><li>Please join us for Literacy Night at GCJHS on September 4, 6-8pm.&nbsp; We will have lots of fun activities, giveaways, and the book fair!  It will be fun for the whole family.<\/li><li>School Counselors will be visiting Prep for College &amp; Careers classes today (Monday, August 26) to discuss Greenfield Central High School graduation pathways, Core 40 requirements, and the 21st Century Scholars program.&nbsp; They will visit 2nd semester for those students enrolled in the class at that time.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Our school-wide fundraiser this year is kicking off this week.&nbsp; We want our students to be physically and emotionally healthy, so we are asking students to collect pledges from friends and family to walk around the track and stop at stations to promote kindness in school.&nbsp; <strong>100%<\/strong> of the money goes to GCJHS for school programs, student incentives and benevolence.<\/li><li>The book fair is coming to GCJHS next week. Hallie Smith played a great consistent match!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 7th grade football team had a great road win against Pendleton Heights, final score of 12-0. The Cougars improve to 1-1 on the season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Notes from Coach Pfaff: <\/strong>\u201cA\u201d game Touchdowns by Evan McIntire and Dallas Freeman. Braylon Mullins had 2 interceptions. \u201cB\u201d team defeated Pendleton 24-0 . 2 Touchdowns by Austin Kincer, other scorers Eddie Mullins, Jackson Maciejewski, and Kody Smith. Great Job fellas!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 8th grade football team had a tough battle against Pendleton Heights, final score of 22-35. The Cougars are now 1-1 on the season.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Notes from Coach Wadle: <\/strong>Four fumbles on last four offensive drives made it tough to be a good Pendleton team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 7th grade volleyball team faced a tough Pendleton Heights team. The Cougars look to bounce back next week.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 8th grade volleyball team picked up their first win of the season. The Cougars defeated the Arabians in 3 sets: Set 1: 25-20, Set 2: 20-25, Set 3: 15-9.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Notes from Coach Dawson: <\/strong>The 8th grade volleyball team played their first match against Pendleton. The girls played aggressive and really worked as a team! Mya Grigsby &amp; Macey Thomas led the team in Kills with 5 each. Mya Grigsby also had 8 aces, following close behind Katie Holmes and Macey Thomas also contributed with 3 aces each!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Cross Country team competed at the Flash Dash Invitational.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Boys team finished in 6th place out of 14, while the Girls team finished in 10th place out of 13.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Notes from Coach Foster: <\/strong>It was a great first race for the Cougars. The Girls placed 10th of 13 with Josie Joyner leading the way in 51st with a time of 13:51. Other top 5 finishers for the girls were Emma Bogle, Addison Herrin, Lexie Copeland, and Layla Gordon.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The boys placed 6th out of 14 teams on Saturday. Liam Brinkruff was the overall boys varsity champion running to a first place finish with a time of 10:35. Other top 5 finishers for the Cougars were Chris Ross, Matthew Parker, Corbin Elliot, and Sam Houston.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Student-Athletes of the Week<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The Student-Athletes of the Week are Lynleigh Ellis and Connor Dotson.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>L. Ellis: <\/strong>Joining us for her 2<sup>nd<\/sup> year as a GCJHS Cheerleader, and bringing with her an amazing determination, focus, and love for her team, our Student-Athlete Of The Week is LynLeigh Ellis. Lyn gives support and encouragement to her teammates when they\u2019re struggling, and she celebrates with them in their successes.&nbsp; She always gives her team, and coaches, her personal best, and we couldn\u2019t ask for more than that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>C. Dotson: <\/strong>Connor is quiet, reserved, and a really good leader. He doesn\u2019t use tough words to urge on teammates but instead leads by example. He\u2019s always willing to help others and treats everyone with the respect they deserve. He\u2019s an intelligent football player too and knows the game very well. Finally, he always gives maximum effort on every play of the game and has a never quit attitude in tough situations. Any GCJHS student who wears school colors will be admitted for <strong>free<\/strong> to our junior high home events.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><li>We will have two eLearning Days this year, where students will work from home and teachers will keep office hours. The dates are November 7 and February 5.\u00a0 School days canceled due to weather can also be eLearning days. If this occurs, details will be given in the automated phone call.<\/li><li>Breakfast is available to students every morning before school for $1.75.<\/li><li>Textbook Fees can be turned in anytime this month. $150.12 for 7th grade and $149.05 for 8th grade.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>If you still want to purchase insurance for your child\u2019s MacBook, it will need to be inspected at the time of payment.
