Principal’s Update 9/24/2018
News:

Please RSVP for the eLearning day. The buses will not stop unless we know you are coming to school. There are still over 300 who have not responded. We want to have a count of students who are staying home and coming to school that day. The RSVP link is available on the PowerSchool parent portal.

The GCJHS staff will receive school safety training from local law enforcement on the afternoon of our eLearning Day. Teachers will have office hours for emails or phone calls in the morning.

College Go! Week is a statewide campaign to help students at every grade level to plan their path to further education after high school. College Go! Week is this week- September 24-28. We have scheduled some activities for staff and students in honor of promoting this week at school such as:
Daily announcements regarding post-secondary education.
Career Matching activity passed out in 1st period.
Learn More Indiana activities in Prep for College & Careers classes.
Discussions in classrooms about college and post-secondary education.
College/university spirit wear on Friday.

Yankee Candle catalogs are due back September 28. Catalog orders will be delivered to school and distributed to students before Thanksgiving. Online orders are shipped directly to the person (they will pay shipping.) Students will earn 40% of sales toward their DC trip.

Join us at Applebee’s on Wednesday night for GCJHS night. The school will receive a portion of the proceeds. Bring in the attached flyer or show the digital version attached.

We encourage students to attend our athletic events. Any GCJHS student who wears school colors will be admitted for free to our junior high home events.

We will have three eLearning Days this year, where students will work from home and teachers will keep office hours. The dates are September 26, November 1, and January 30.

School days cancelled due to weather will also be eLearning days this year.

Students can be dropped off to wait outside in the morning. The doors to the building will be open beginning at 8:20 a.m. each day.

Breakfast is available to students every morning before school.

Textbook Fees are $150.12 for 7th grade and $149.05 for 8th grade.
If you still want to purchase insurance for your child’s MacBook, it will need to be inspected at the time of payment. This can be done during the school day. Insurance costs $50 and has a $40 deductible for each claim.
