Principal’s Update 11/14/16

1.  Wednesday is the Flex-Pilot eLearning Day.  Students will stay home and work on assignments while teachers have professional development learning at school.  Teachers will have office hours 12:30-3:30pm for students to call with questions about their assignments.  In case students have trouble connecting to the internet at home, assignments are due Monday, November 21.  The Tech Help Desk will be available all day for tech support at (317) 477-4111.   We need to make appropriate arrangements for the day, so if you haven’t RSVP’d for the Flex Pilot eLearning day, please do so!
2.  Friday, November 18th the GCJHS PTO will be hosting it’s 2nd annual Family Trivia Night. Families or friend groups can reserve a table, order a pizza and play a fun game of trivia and compete with other GCJHS families and staff. Indy’s Live Trivia will be here to stump us and keep us entertained!
Please register your family at the following link.  On that link you can also pre-order pizza!  The concession stand will be open with pizza-by-the-slice, candy, soda, desserts and other snacks! You won’t want to miss this fun night! Pre-orders are encouraged and are the most economical!
3. Girls basketball tryouts for both 7th and 8th grade teams, will be Monday Nov 28 through Wednesday Nov 30 at GIS.  More details will be announced at school.

Tips for School Success
Students sometimes have trouble with time management at this stage in life.  It’s important to develop a plan and you can help!  Have your child make a list of assignments he/she needs to get done.  It’s fun to cross the items off the list as they are completed and it keeps them on task.  If something seems overwhelming, have him/her break it into small parts.  Make sure your child does the most challenging assignments first while he/she is still fresh and alert.  Set goals and rewards (If I study for 30 minutes, I get to play video games for 30 minutes).
